DeskTask

If you use Microsoft Outlook and you need your appointments and tasks to be displayed on your desktop, then you are very well advised to go get DeskTask, a free application offered by Carthago Software. This application puts a floating window on your desktop, window that presents Calendar and Tasks info.

DeskTask works with numerous Windows and Outlook editions. At the time of writing this, the application provides support for Windows NT, 2000, XP, Vista, and 7. It also provides support for Outlook 97, 2000, XP, 2003, 2007, and 2010. Little time and little effort will go into getting DeskTask up and running.

You will see two things on your desktop when DeskTask is running. The first thing you will see is a floating window that presents your appointments and tasks; by default it is placed in the upper left hand corner, but you can drag and drop it anywhere else you want. The second thing you will see is an icon in the system tray. Right click it to access the Settings menu, open Outlook, and more.

As mentioned above, DeskTask puts a floating window on your desktop that displays your appointments and tasks. Click Calendar on this floating window and Outlook Calendar will launch. Click Tasks, and Outlook tasks will launch. If the window gets in the way, you can hide it out of sight with a simple mouse click.

DeskTask is freeware, meaning that you can use the application for as long as you want and not have to part with your money. Cons:
